Voting Question: Rinsing off stuff from aquarium?

Is it ok to rinse off fabrication facets occasionally when there is overgrowth of algae? I get overgrowth of algae which the snails can't finish off in the tank. I uncolored went to rinse of in normal tap water (cold before spread out I switched to warm) all the algae overgrowth on a imitation plant. Should I do it more?
